Volunteer

There are many opportunities available for all kinds of people who want to help out with our program! For some of the duties, no prior knowledge of golf is required. Here is an overview of some of the different ways you can help out…

  • Administrative: Volunteers assist Hook A Kid On Golf Site Coordinator or Golf Professional with several duties which may include: recruitment of children, registration, preparation for event days, and other tasks.
  • Organizational: Volunteers take on more of a leadership role with the program, such as a Site Coordinator position. This requires more of a time commitment.
  • Fundraising: Volunteers assist Site Coordinator with fundraising development and efforts in their local area. Responsibilities may vary depending on need.
  • Transportation: Volunteers assist the Site Coordinator of Golf Professional with transportation issues during the program.
  • Instructional: Volunteers assist with instruction during the Hook A Kid On Golf program. Duties include talking and working with children on basic golf and swing fundamentals, and discussing the rules, etiquette, and traditions of the game.

Volunteers are typically 16 years and older. Depending on the interest of the volunteer, the responsibility or duty, and age, skill requirements and commitment will vary. The season usually runs from the first week in June till the first week in October.

Hook A Kid Programs are conducted mostly during the week; some weekend commitments may be necessary. Hours are flexible depending on the volunteer duties and availability. If you would like more information on becoming a Hook A Kid volunteer, or if you just want to do it again, please contact us!
